Gruen Pocket Watches
The Gruen Pentagons were a distinct and very upscale model line that used precision grade or higher and verithin or thinner movements. To emphasize the Pentagons status Gruen gave the Pentagon its own section in the 1929 Gruen catalog which was equal in size to all the other watches combined. The Pentagon models were not cheap either. For example a standard round VeriThin price started at $1275 in todays dollars, and the cheapest Pentagon model sold for $1875 in todays dollars. Customer upgrades to the case or movement could raise the final cost much higher.
